IMPROVERS DRAWING  - WEEKEND

This is the perfect follow-on from my DRAWING FOR BEGINNERS class. We start with a quick refresher of four key observational drawing techniques. The class then builds your knowledge of perspective and its affects, techniques for producing quick sketches, methods for capturing a sense of motion and the use of line quality and tonal techniques to add energy and drama to your drawings.

You will be encouraged to develop your own drawing style through experimentation with drawing materials and surfaces and to explore drawn subjects ranging from the real to the distorted. We will be working from still life arrangements, our natural and built surroundings and of course, our own imaginations.

There are short group assessments at key stages throughout the class and with a maximum of 6 students you will receive plenty of input and guidance.

The drawing knowledge you will gain through hands-on practice will help you to develop your own approach and broaden your range of subject matter.

Times

Starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm with tea/coffee breaks at mid-morning and mid-afternoon and a 1-hour lunch break between 1and 2pm.

Lunch

A home-made vegetarian lunch will be served and would typically be soup and artisan bread with cake to finish. Teas and coffee will be served during morning, lunch and afternoon breaks.
Please note that we are not able to cater for any food allergies but you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.

Parking

Free parking is available.

Materials provided

The course includes a 2B and 4B pencil, willow charcoal and A2 cartridge paper. Pencil erasers, sharpeners, easels and A2 drawing boards are also available for each student.

Please bring any other drawing materials and papers you wish to work with.
